    Hey Hansi,

As you've seen, there are some people on TSMB that are definitely skeptical of LLLT. I, however, am not. I'm curious, did you go to Winkler? Or, do you have a device and are using it.

    Thanks,

    Jesseslash

    Hi Jesseslash,

What I did was that I contacted Dr Lutz Wilden, sent him my hearing test and filled in the form on his website. From these he estimated my chances to experience any positive effects through LLLT.
He told me that it was a good idea to invest in the home laser as I needed a long term treatment.
My audiometrie showed a quite sever loss in the higher frequencies and, considering that I am amusician who have played very loud music for many years made him conclude that my hearing cells had been in a state of exhaution for some years and, therefore would need a quite long "wake up time".

So, I bought one and atrted to use it on July 10, 2007.
In November 2008 I considered the improvemnts to be about 70%.
At this time I found out that I had a misunderstanding regarding the strenght of the light delivered by my MLS (Medical Laser System). I had the idea that it was almost as strong as the laser used at Dr Wildens clinic. This was not correct. dr Wilden told me that I, considering the good effects from the home laser, could have benefits from an intensive 5 day treatment at either his clinic or at Anne Harila's clinic in Norway (as this is much closer to where I live - in Sweden).

So, I went to Anne's clinic (www.laserklinikken.no) and had some "mega laser" for 5 days.
    This was in January 5-9.
It is too early to tell what will come out of this but, during the last 4 days I have felt that the improvements has speeded up and have no had 4 days in a row with lower T than ever. So, at this moment I feel that it is a 80% improvement but I also know that it is some ups and down during the treatment.
So, next week I might consider it a 75% improvement, then perhaps it will be 85%, then 80% etc etc.

There is many, many misunderstandings about LLLT.
Many tests that have been done are done with too weak light and/or for only a couple of minutes.
Another thing is that there is a company selling a device named Tinnitool that is far too weak.
Yet another thing is that the first result after starting the treatment is that the symptoms, T, hyperacusis or whatever becomes stronger for a couple of weeks before one start to sense what I call "The feeling of healing" and then it might take several months before one clearly notices real improvements.

Many people stop the treatment when they feel that their T is getting louder.

This is some of the reasons behind why there are so many believeing that it does not work.
I don't blame them. I think that practitioners should put this information out more clearly so that people knows what to expect. I mean, I was happy about the louder tinnitus in the beginning as I knew that it came from actual improvements. The hearing cells now had more energy! Unfortunally their first "intention" is to send louder t-signals. But, this disappears after a couple of weeks and then the real improvements starts.

If you have more questions I'm happy to answer them.
I know how painful it can be with severe T and what a handicap it is.
I was in such a bad state that I could not go out.
    My kids had to whisper.
    Now, no problem.
And the T is much lower and not aggressive.
And my hearing is getting better and better.

So, I guess the best thing if one has s severe T is to get both a professíonal treatment and a home device. If the T is not so bad it might be enough with one of these.
Dr Wilden's laser is more expensive than some others but the price includes consulting.
    This I found very valuable.

    cheers,

    Hansi
